Sedona Arizona Uptown

This main street is like no other; on the one hand you are surrounded by masses of bright flowers, cooling fountains and outdoor sculptures and then your gaze is drawn to the outlying wild country of red rocks and buttes. Both depict the magic of Sedona.

Uptown Sedona has plenty to offer the visitor and is very walkable and compact. We have never had trouble finding a parking place either on the main street, a block west or behind the Sinagua Shopping Plaza (an excellent place to photograph the views to the east). Stop by Uptown Chamber of Commerce located at the corner of N.Hwy89A and Forest Rd. to pick up maps and brochures on all the Sedona attractions. It is about 2 blocks south of the center of town.

Most folks start out with a shopping tour (it is hard to resist). There is plenty to keep you occupied… fine art galleries, unusual gifts, jewelry, clothing, Native American arts and crafts, Southwest keepsakes. * Husbands please note: there are benches thoughtfully placed throughout the shopping area so you can enjoy the scenery while your wives continue to shop. This is also a place to hook up with a Jeep/ adventure tour.

When it is time for a break there is much to tempt the hungry shopper. Enjoy a cappuchino and get lost in the view on the patio of Ravenheart. We look forward to lunch under an umbrella at Sedona Memories one block west on Jordan Rd. (huge deli sandwiches make this a favorite with locals). While on Jordan Rd. check out the small boutiques and the Sedona Thrift Shop. For Mexican food plus a fantastic view of red rock country check out Vista Cantina in Sinagua Plaza.

For a taste of Sedona’s pioneer heritage head north a few blocks on Jordan Rd. to Jordan Historic Park. It is fun to walk the nature trail, view the orchard and old farm implements and then browse through the Sedona Heritage Museum. Western movies made in Sedona and early cowboy life are exciting Museum highlights. The Park features a gift shop, picnic area and public restrooms. It is a nice place to slow down and relax and let the kids run around. The Museum is open daily at 11am, adults $3 admission, children free.
Sedona Arts Center outdoor sculpture garden, showcased in beautiful surroundings, is well worth a visit. Then take the time to view the Members Gallery and the Exhibition Gallery that changes throughout the year. Gallery hours are 10am to 5pm seven days a week and admission is free. The Arts Center is located at the north end of Uptown Sedona at Art Barn Rd. and is a short stroll from the center of town.
